PROJECT MANAGER

DESCRIPTION

Working closely with the Construction Manager and Project Superintendent, the Project Manager provides the overall on-site administrative and technical management for a major project or multiple small to mid-sized projects. Responsibilities include ensuring project completion according to design, budget, and schedule; developing new contracts; maintaining Canadian Plain’s high standard of safety; and overseeing proper protocols in the field. The Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution, management of employees, resources, and project scope.
 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years of “hands-on” facility fabrication experience in the capacity of project manager in oilfield construction/maintenance projects and services supplemented by other aspects of construction management
  • Ability to travel as required to and from various project site locations
  • Recognized diploma, bachelor’s degree in engineering, PMP or construction management is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
  • Progressive experience in industrial projects including experience with project management skills and ability to prepare project budgets to achieve required margins
  • Excellent financial management skills
  • Strong understanding of Saskatchewan occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, standards and procedures
  • A working understanding of quality control regulations and procedures
  • Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several tasks
  • Leads by example and adapts to change
  • Team player with proven ability to resolve conflicts and problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Project.
  • Knowledge of Primavera is an asset
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Developed analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Capable of participating in and facilitating group meetings
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

 

LABOURER

WHITE CITY SASKATCHEWAN

DESCRIPTION

Canadian Plain’s Pipeline Labourers assist skilled trade persons and perform labour activities at our various construction and project sites. 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be local
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • H2S Alive and Standard First Aid
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Previous Pipeline specific labour experience
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Capable of working with small tools
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Fluent in speaking and reading English
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Must be able to get to the designated job site

 

MANAGEMENT TRAINEE

DESCRIPTION

The Management Trainee Program is an entry level leadership program that is designed for new grads to learn the Oil and gas construction business. Management Trainees receive "hands on" field construct-ability experience and technical training.  Technical training includes both field and classroom exposure to project management, cost control, scheduling, safety management, quality management, estimating and proposal delivery, financial, administration, and business development.  With skilled supervision, a variety of field-based operational training, exposure to a variety of functional areas and mentoring to ensure success of our graduates, this leadership program provides Canadian Plains with a pipeline of highly qualified candidates for management positions within our organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Applicants should be recent graduates, or expecting to graduate shortly, with a Construction Technology, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Business Administration, and or Project Management Diploma/Degree. This opportunity is also open to internal candidates with a Journeyman certificate in pipefitting, electric and instrumentation or other suitable construction trades.   • Minimum of 6 months construction experience completing “hands on” manual labour would be considered an asset in addition to the required education (as mentioned above). 

 

EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

DESCRIPTION

Under the guidance and direction of the site foreman or direct supervisor, the heavy equipment operator is responsible for operating heaving equipment in an efficient, safe and appropriate manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life while supporting construction activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be local
  • Ability to operate a track hoe would be considered an asset
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) ticket
  • Ground Disturbance Level 2 is considered an asset
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • H2S Alive and Standard First Aid
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Previous pipeline equipment operation experience
  • Detail oriented with a mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Capable of following directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
  • Must be able to get to the designated job site

 

CONSTRUCTION FOREMAN

ESTEVAN SASKATCHEWAN

 

SUMMARYThe primary function of the Construction Foreman is to provide site level "hands on" technical expertise during the Construction Project. Crew Foreman provide leadership and scheduling, and coordinate, supervise and ensure the safety and productivity of a mid-sized crew. Project work will be located within the Estevan area.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Journeyman trade certification in a relevant trade if possible
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience as a qualified and competent trades experienced person
  • Three (3) years of supervision experience
  • Capable of setting and managing priorities to meet all deadlines
  • Strong coordination skills and organization skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Valid drivers license
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment drug and alcohol test

 

EXCAVATOR OPERATOR

LLOYDMINSTER SASKATCHEWAN

 

 

DESCRIPTION

Under the guidance and direction of the site foreman or direct supervisor, the Excavator Operator is responsible for operating heaving equipment in an efficient, safe and appropriate manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life while supporting construction activities

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Must be available and ready to start anytime between September 3rd and 9th 2019
  • Previous pipeline excavator operation experience
  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) ticket
  • Ground Disturbance Level 2 is considered an asset
  • Grade 12 or GED
  • H2S Alive and Standard First Aid
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Detail oriented with a mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather
  • Capable of working as part of a team
  • Capable of following directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
  • Must be able to get to the designated job site
