About Ivory:
Ivory Hecker is a reporter for FOX 26 Houston.
Prior to FOX Ivory was a reporter and fill-in anchor for KARE-TV, the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota. During her time there, Ivory covered several national news stories, including the death of Prince at his Paisley Park home, the police shootings of Jamar Clark, Philando Castile and Justine Damond, Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National Golf Club and the opening of U.S. Bank Stadium where Super Bowl LII will be played.
Prior to KARE, Ivory worked at WLEX-TV in Lexington, KY, where several of her investigative reports spurred county and state leaders to make improvements to local government. CNN aired Ivory's breaking news report when she covered a hotel explosion in Lexington in September, 2014. Ivory's coverage also helped WLEX win a 2014 AP award for best newscast in Kentucky.
Before coming to LEX 18 News, Ivory was a reporter for WACH-TV, the FOX affiliate in Columbia, SC. While there she covered the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, reporting live for a dozen local affiliates throughout the nation after President Barack Obama's re-nomination was announced. Then, in summer 2013, her company sent her to Colorado Springs to aid sister station KXRM-TV with reports on Colorado's most destructive wildfire in history, the Black Forest Fire.
Ivory holds a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University. She got her start in front of the camera in college at the student TV station, CitrusTV. Ivory was chosen for the New York State Broadcasters Association paid internship with WBNG-TV, the CBS affiliate in Binghamton, NY. The stories she covered there were her first to air on local TV news. While still in college Ivory spent a summer reporting for KBJR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Duluth, MN. She also interned at KABC-TV in Los Angeles and at YNN Syracuse, Time Warner's 24-hour news channel.
Ivory is the recipient of a first place regional Mark of Excellence Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for a sports features she covered while attending Syracuse University.
Ivory grew up in Wisconsin where she discovered her passion for journalism through high school radio speaking competitions and as a radio announcer at WRLS-FM.
